Solar Christmas Tree Lighting

For over 18 years, the Solar Club has hosted the Solar Christmas Tree Lighting! This event aims to bring the greater App State/Boone/Watauga community together for a holiday celebration and to inform the public about the benefits and importance of clean, renewable energy sources. We set a small array of photovoltaic panels wired to a battery bank, so during the day, the panels gather sun energy and convert it into electricity. This setup powers many strands of L.E.D. Christmas tree lights each night during the holidays. The lights are on a huge pine tree at the Jone House on King Street in downtown Boone. An average of 150 people show up each year to celebrate the holidays with Solar Club and the Solar Christmas Tree Lighting. Stay tuned to this year's date!
